Our new kitchen

My husband and I started house flipping almost a year and a half ago.  We are those people who watched "Flip or Flop" and was like, we can do that.  Using very little knowledge except what we gathered from the TV show and reading blogs, we ventured into that world.  Not the best way to start things, but you gotta start some way.  We went to a public auction to see if we could find "cheap" property that way.  Nope.  Too many big companies with lots of cash.  We ended up going to the REIA meetings in Culver City.  They happen once a month and they are usually free.  We met Brandon at our first meeting.  He's a real estate agent that has a company that deals in flips.  He gave us our start.  It wasn't the best start and we ended up ending that relationship, but we learned alot.

Which leads me to present day.  We knew we needed to do things differently.  So we randomly chose to go to New Orleans last Christmas.  We stayed at a cute Airbnb in Bywater.  It was bright, colorful, the people were nice.  We were there only 2 days, but in that time we saw lots of houses being renovated.  We ended up deciding to move down here once we realized how cheap it was.  In LA, a house costs 400,000 and it's a deal.  Here a house costs 80,000 and it's a deal.  Way different.  Way more affordable.  The downside to where we live now is that we bought ourselves a house in a city we didn't know in an area that isn't the best.  It needed a few fix ups, but was liveable.  We are staying here while our other house is getting gutted and fixed up (in a possibly worse part of town).  It's a bit of  a food dessert (grocery store wise).  A fun dessert.  A store dessert (unless it's dollar general).  But hey,  you can get a po-boy on every corner!

We're living in an area that is poorer than we knew, but it's great in a way because though it's not the safest, we can walk around and see so many abandoned homes.  It helps us keep our focus in mind, which is making this city a better place property by property.

I wanted to show you before and after photos of the kitchen in the house we are staying in.  We'll call this kitchen #1 in House #1.
